For Jeff Scheetz, disc dog competition is about more than big throws and impressive catches. It's about building partnerships, developing confidence, and helping each dog reach their full potential. Two of his standout teammates, Roman and Timber, represent very different journeys, but they share the same passion for the sport and the same drive to give everything they have on the field.

Two Dogs, One Love for the Game

Roman, a three-year-old Border Collie, and Timber, a six-year-old Australian Shepherd, both call Kansas City home and compete in disc alongside Jeff.

While they're fierce competitors when it's time to perform, their personalities away from the field couldn't be more relatable.

Roman is a sweet, observant Border Collie who spends much of his downtime watching the world around him. Whether it's keeping an eye on the cats or carefully monitoring the other dogs, he's always paying attention.

Timber, on the other hand, has mastered the art of relaxation. Despite his reputation as a high-energy athlete, he's happiest curled up on the couch and often calls it an early night. According to Jeff, you'd never guess he's capable of turning into a disc dog powerhouse the moment competition begins.

A Remarkable Comeback Story

Roman's journey into disc sports began shortly after Jeff brought him home from a difficult situation at just three months old.

"He really needed some focus and to build up his confidence," Jeff says.

Roman arrived with a long list of health challenges, including a urinary tract infection, heart murmur, urinary crystals, giardia, and worms. The goal wasn't competition. It was simply helping him become a healthy puppy.

Disc training quickly became an outlet that helped him build confidence and focus, and he fell in love with the sport almost immediately.

The results have been nothing short of remarkable.

By the age of two, Roman had already finished second at the World Championships, a milestone that seemed almost unimaginable when Jeff first brought him home.

Today, he's healthy, thriving, and, as Jeff puts it, "a beast of an athlete."

Born for Disc

Unlike Roman, Timber's athletic career started almost as soon as he arrived home.

Jeff introduced him to tugging and retrieving games at just eight weeks old, and Timber's enthusiasm was obvious from day one.

Over the years, that natural drive has developed into a successful disc career built on consistency, athleticism, and an undeniable love for the game.

What stands out most to Jeff isn't a particular title or achievement. It's Timber's attitude.

"All time on the field with Tim is memorable," he says. "He's just such a happy, smiling dog. He loves to play and just lights up when we take the field."

That enthusiasm has made Timber not only a great competitor but also an exceptional teammate.

Fueling Performance

For canine athletes competing at a high level, nutrition is an important part of the equation.
