Haematococcus pluvialis is a freshwater microalga belonging to family Chlamydomonadaceae. Strains of the alga extend across habitats ranging from the African lakes to the Arctic snow fields. Typical habitats are ephemeral ponds and rainwater pools, for example, rock pools in the Stockholm archipelago.

Under favorable conditions, the motile, green cells of Haematococcus pluvialis thrive, reproducing primarly by other unfavorable conditions. The cells enter a resting state and become spores with thick cell walls. When transforming into this spore phase, these algae not only store fats as an energy source, but also begin producing and accumulating astaxanthin.

Astaxanthin acts like a force field that protects the nuclear DNA and cell content from oxidation and UVA radiation. The encapsulated form of the alga is called an aplanospore and in this form. the alga can survive for long periods, even under harsh conditions.

The cultivation process of Haematococcus pluvialis starts in the laboratory, where a seed culture is cultivated under sterile conditions to provide a pure culture. The culture is enriched with essential nutrients and light that allows for optimal growth and proliferation (green phase). When the culture reaches its optimal density in the green phase, it is transferred to our unique stainless steel photobioreactors where the production of astaxanthin (red phase) is initiated. After the algae have reached maturity, they are harvested, crushed and dried. The final biomass is a deep-red powder of high purity, containing a high concentration of astaxanthin. The biomass can be further refined to produce a range of bulk products that are suitable for different formats and formulations.

Ingredients

Natural Astaxanthin (from Haematoccocus pluvialis microalgae), safflower oil, gelatin, glycerin, purified water, natural tocopherols. Also contains naturally occurring carotenoids including lutein.

Directions

Sprinkle Astaxanthin over your pet's food or mix with warm water in a mason jar and add to main feeding bucket.

The target dose of actual Astaxanthin is 5mg per dog per day. To derive 5 mg of the active ingredient you need 110 mg of the Astaxanthin 4.5% powder. One level teaspoon of the Astaxanthin 4.5% powder weighs 1.9 grams giving an actual dose of the active Astaxanthin of 90mg. This amount would be good for 18 dogs daily at a 5 mg/dog dose.

With 1kg bag, you can make 9,000 servings/dog;
1,000,000mg /110.0mg = 9,000 servings/1kg.
You can feed 18 dogs with 5mg of active Astaxanthin.
9,000 / 18 = 500 servings/day for 18 dogs

With 1/2kg, you can make 4,500 servings/dog
250 days for 18 dogs

With 1/4kg, you can make 2,250 servings/dog
125 days for 18 dogs
