Is there a protein my dogs should NOT eat?
Posted on 01.11.11 | Ask Dr. Tim
I have a toy poodle and recently adopted a pug. Is there a protein they should NOT eat?
At a farmer’s market a women who makes dog food indicates that poodles should not eat any poultry. I made my dog food with 1/3 protein, 1/3 brown rice, 1/3 veggies and flaxseed oil. I supplement with Fromm’s dry dog food as needed. Thank you!
I am not aware of any protein either dog cannot eat if they don’t have underlying allergies to any one particular protein. Occasionally you can have a pure bred dog that can have an issue with certain proteins that can lead to bladder stones, but as a rule all types should be fine for those two breeds of dogs.
